Key Roles & Responsibilities:

As the Mining Manager at Kalahari Mining, you will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to:

  • Production Coordination: Set production quotas, plan and coordinate extraction sites, oversee mining operations including drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling activities. Develop long and short-term policies and production plans for the removal of raw materials.
  • Efficiency Evaluation: Assess the efficiency of production sites, determine the adequacy of personnel, equipment, and technologies, and make necessary adjustments to work schedules or equipment.
  • Strategic Development: Implement strategies for improving mining efficiency and productivity, identify and evaluate new mining opportunities and projects, and collaborate with senior management on business development initiatives.
  • Operational Planning: Plan production activities in terms of output quality and quantity, cost, time, and labor requirements. Prepare and present operational reports, including production statistics, safety incidents, and budget performance.
  • Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate records of mining activities and compliance documentation. Establish and manage budgets, monitor production output and costs, and adjust processes and resources to minimize costs and manage risks.
  • Equipment Oversight: Oversee the procurement, maintenance, and repair of mining equipment and machinery as required.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in on-site mining work and cross-functional interfaces to ensure safe, sustainable, and efficient operations.
  • Compliance Coordination: Implement health and safety requirements and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to mining operations. Research and implement regulatory and statutory requirements affecting mineral extraction operations and the environment.
  • Team Management: Oversee the selection, training, and performance of staff. Foster a culture of collaboration and open communication within the team and across departments, ensuring alignment on customer needs, priorities, and initiatives.
  • Accountability: Hold individuals and teams accountable as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive operations and business experience in mining operations.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years in a management capacity in mining.
  • In-depth knowledge of mining methods, equipment, and industry best practices.
  • Familiarity with Nigerian mining laws and regulations.
  • Medically fit and able to work in remote and challenging environments.
  • Ability to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
